The Wentbridge Arrow
This is shooting at a wand, similar to the shooting in past times. The wand is a thin length of wood four inches wide by 60 inches in length set at approximately 50 paces from the shooting line. All archers are allowed to shoot three arrows at the wand. All archers hitting the wand just once move into the next round. This will continue until a winning archers is declared by the judge. In a tight competition the Judges could decide to move the wand further away from the shooting line. Also the Judge could come down to only one arrow per archer if the shooting is good.
The winning archer recieves the Wentbridge Arrow trophy to hold for a year, and also the blazer badge and medal as keepsakes.
The Wentbridge arrow is from Australia and is made from black bamboo with a obsidian arrow head, mounted on the shaft with pitch blend and sinew. The case holding the arrow is made from old English Yew by a local cabinetmaker.
