Competition News : Cheshire Clout

Competition News

Just to let you all know that Wakefield Archers did very well at the Cheshire Clout weekend (28th - 30th Aug). This is a new 3 day event consisting of a 2 way Dbl GNAS clout on the Saturday, a 1 way Dbl GNAS clout on the Sun (which is also the Cheshire Clout Champs) and a 1 way Dbl FITA clout on the bank holiday Monday.

The weather was really windy for 2 of the 3 days which made for some tricky shooting conditions. Despite this Wakefield Archers (Mark & Aidy Hayes, and Graham & Derise Smith) did very well picking up various medals over the weekend.

We also took away 3 of the 4 Tri-clout cups that were awarded at the end of the 3rd day, and so won overall the Compound, Longbow and Barebow categories. So if anyone is wondering why Cheshire are no longer talking to us that may be the reason. : ) Sorry!

Thanks Barry. Just to add to Barry's post re. the Top Town shoot this year (see below) Wakefield Archers also won the Gents Compound (Mark Hayes) and First and Second place with Gents Longbow (Lewis and Trev) so all in all not a bad day for WA.

This evening has brought some extremely sad news. Our dear friend and fellow archer Ian Robinson has passed away after a long illness.
Our thoughts are with his partner Gill and his family at this difficult time.
Ian was a very kind and generous man who would always help his fellow archers on the line often with a joke and a smile on his face. Ian was also on the clubs committee as our treasurer and performed an outstanding job, we all appreciate the time and commitment that Ian put in to the club to make it a success. Being also a keen photographer there are many of Ian's photographs on our site.
I know that I can confidently speak on behalf of every one in saying that Ian will be greatly missed.
